A fast-moving house fire tore through a Harvard Heights home Tuesday night, but Los Angeles firefighters stopped the flames before they could spread down the block.

Los Angeles Fire Department crews Wednesday were continuing their overhaul operations of a fire that engulfed the attic and roof of a sprawling Beverly Crest mansion. The blaze burned for nearly four hours and forced fire crews into a defensive battle at the mansion.

The iconic three-story Victorian home that’s known as the Magic Castle caught fire on Tuesday as responders fought to save the famous Hollywood venue.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, crews were dispatched to a structure fire at 7001 W Franklin Ave, with companies from Station 41 listed among those responding. That street address lines up with the famed clubhouse listed on the Magic Castle website.

The Los Angeles Fire Department has increased staffing and prepositioned crews due to Santa Ana winds and low humidity levels in the weekend forecast.

A second-story fire at a combination one- and two-story strip mall in Northridge was knocked down by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel Tuesday. Fire crews responded at 4:38 a.m. to 8363 N. Reseda Blvd.
