Apple announced its next major iOS update, iOS 27, at WWDC 2026 on Monday. Apple is highlighting performance and design improvements, trust and safety upgrades like a Screen Time redesign, and major upgrades to Siri and Apple Intelligence. The update will be supported all the way back to the iPhone 11.
The 2026 Apple WWDC brings news of the latest iteration of iOS. Here's what iPhone users will see with the upgrade, likely coming later this year.
The way the system renders app icons is also updated. The new pipeline adds more visual separation between each layer, resulting in sharper defined edges and luscious refractions. This addresses user feedback during the iOS 26 cycle that the new icons looked a bit ‘blurry’ at smaller sizes.
During WWDC, Apple announced the launch of Siri AI, an expansion of the virtual assistant tool that relies more on Apple Intelligence.
