Bekanntheit erlangte die aus Wuppertal stammende Schauspielerin Marie Gruber in ihrer Rolle als Rita Struutz an der Seite von Wolfgang Stumph in "Go Trabi Go" (1991). Gemeinsam eroberten die beiden das gesamtdeutsche Kinopublikum. In "Stubbe - Von Fall zu Fall" war sie dann viele Jahre danach Stubbes Ehefrau Caroline und spielte erneut an der Seite von Wolfgang Stumph.
