Is it possible to start hitting the most solid shots of your life simply by fixing the #1 reason you can't shallow the club? Hi, I’m Clay Ballard, golf instructor for the past 10 years. And I consider shallowing the club in the downswing the #1 difference between great and poor ball strikers. Why? Because it leads to golf's holy trifecta... distance, accuracy, and consistency. Forget everything you *thought* you knew about teeing the driver! Long-drive specialists aren't just guessing; they're employing a radical setup for maximum yardage. See the visual breakdown on why teeing the ball *half a ball over* the driver crown is the key, combined with an aggressive forward ball position near the lead foot. This configuration is designed to ensure the club strikes the ball on the upswing, creating that penetrating, high-spin flight needed to blast through the wind. Watch t

That aggressive, over-the-head *chop* motion? It feels incredibly powerful, like you could split the golf ball in half. However, this clip reveals why that intuitive move is the single biggest killer of driver distance and club speed for so many players. The reality of generating true power is counterintuitive: ditch the overhead hack and master getting the club *in the slot* by approaching from the inside. Learn the common setup myth that keep golfers trapped in that distance-losing chopping po

It doesn't matter how straight how good our alignment is if we're hitting our driver on the upswing, if we can't swing that club pretty fast, we're not going to hit it very far. PGA tour average is about 113 miles an hour. LPGA tour average is about 96 miles an hour, and Senior PGA is around 105 mph. | Top Speed Golf - Clay Ballard Golf Instruction

Now, there’s one thing that almost every single player does dead wrong when they’re hitting the three wood off the tee. They tee it up way too high. almost like you would a driver and then a driver. You hit up on it a little bit. With three wood part of the consistency is coming from hitting down on it, I’m gonna tee it up pretty low and I like to take even just a hair of a divot, or at least just brush the grass even when I’m hitting it off the tee like this. So I tee it up pretty low. One thin

Stop slapping the ball and start hearing that satisfying *whip* through impact! This breakdown showcases an extreme practice method that forces instant feedback on your driver mechanics. By intentionally alternating between a quick cast motion and a deep lag move—ensuring the release happens *in front* of the golf ball—you can unlock massive clubhead speed. If you're leaving distance on the table, this visualization trick is the key to effortless power off the tee. Get ready to crush your next d

Here's a really good trick that I found that can help you guys get that path and swing direction more out to the right. What you typically have been told when you have a slice is...align your stance more to the right of the target and swing inside out. But if I angle my right foot in toward the fairway…what ends up happening is the rest of my body gets angled to the left. Your hips are going left, your shoulders are going left, and your forearms are going to the left. So even though your feet ar
