The Flying Mechanic on Instagram: "Mach Tuck is the uncontrolled nose down pitching of the aircraft caused by (1) the shifting of the Center of Pressure aft on the wing and (2) the loss of Tail Down Force caused by the shockwave formed as air reaches the speed of sound over the wing. This was first encoutered by a P38 during the 1940s when it was not yet fully understood the design flaws of that aircraft and would be a problem when the Bell X-1 attempted to break the sound barrier. #avhistory #m
